Anishinaabeg · Ojibway · A guide, not a sacred story

How to hold a teaching

The seven teachings were shared on purpose. They are not a poster, and they are not a race.

A misty cedar clearing at first light with a beaver, an eagle, a bison, a bear, a wolf, a turtle, and a tall figure half-hidden among the trees.

On the teachings path in this hearth there are seven Anishinaabe words. Elders shared them so young people could learn how to live — including young people who are not Anishinaabe. That sharing was a decision. It was not an accident, and it was not permission to redesign the gifts.
